Nature after Nature

Works from the the Series "Nature after Nature" were shown in a exhibition of the "Rainforest Art Foundation" in Long Island, New York, USA.

Next to the paintings were postcards displayed (to take away) with the following text on the back:

The images of destruction of the rainforest in the media have been important for people to wake up – so far.

But these images of destruction and of the burning rainforest are also burning tracks of depression into our souls.

Can we still hope for nature to recover? Will there be a nature after nature? Are we able to plant images of recovery and renewal in our hearts? Through these different images and a new culture of mindfulness we might build up the power to rescue or replant the rainforest which is an essential source of life for plants, animals, local people and last but not least mankind worldwide.

Is it possible, rather than depicting the destruction of nature in painting, to imagine and paint not the outer appearence but the inner dynamic forces of nature that help us to enhance recreation and a new beginning? Or are we lost in destruction?

Andreas Kuhn ist Mitglied der Künstlerorganisation „Rainforest Art Foundation“ (www.rainforestartfoundation.eu), die sich international für den Erhalt der Regenwälder engagiert.

In dem Bilderzyklus „Nature after Nature“ geht der Künstler der Frage nach, ob es möglich ist, den inneren unsichtbaren Regenerationskräften der Natur nachzuspüren, um der Inflation medialer Bilder von Brandrodung und Naturzerstörung etwas entgegenzusetzen.

Andreas Kuhn is a member of the artist organization „Rainforest Art Foundation“ (www.rainforestartfoundation.eu), which is internationally committed to the conservation of the rainforests.

In the „Nature after Nature“ picture cycle, the artist explores the question of whether it is possible to trace the inner invisible regeneration forces of nature in order to counter the inflation of media images of slash-and-burn and nature destruction.
